Tasks recently turned 3 and with that we had a huge update a few days back. Adding to that we now have a huge design improvement for the iPad app. Alongside that here are a few other fixes:
- Improved drag and drop support
- Support for setting date when a task has multiple date fields in the menu
- Support for bulk operations for a task in a column
- Bug fix where invited project would not reflect immediately
- Bug fix where opening a task would move a late recurring reminders date to the next available date

Tasks turns 3 and with that we have an update that is absolute a fresh, faster, smoother and reliable look!
We take pride in our work and for the longest, our Mac app wasn’t up to the standards we like and this update changes that!
- A brand new sidebar with drag and drop interactions to reorder and more
- A completely redesigned navigation system for the Mac to feel faster and more native
- Freshly designed kanban view, with drag and drop interactions to make tasks subtasks, remove them and more!
- Redesigned task detail screen
- Better keyboard shortcuts to create tasks, projects and more
- Tasks Cloud, a reliable and new way to sync your tasks and collaborate with your friends with a simple one tap Sign in with Apple for authentication
- Redesigned create task screen, create project, tags, priorities screens and more
- All new comments design
- Improvements to the performance of the app by over 200%
- Bug fix where comments would not sync
- Bug fix where tapping on widgets would not open the app
Along with all this, Tasks Cloud which is our new sync mechanism is an opt in only. The default is still iCloud and you can continue to use iCloud for your sync which we have continued to improve.
For users facing issues with sharing, kindly clone the project with the tasks and share that. There was an issue with the previous version which would cause some difficulty.

This update is very dear to me, here is why:
I started out on this journey because I couldn’t find an app that was really easy to manage my projects and tasks in an organized and personalized way - so I set out to make an app for myself. I had big features planned for it and one of them was this “Smart Lists” feature. I planned this feature back in March 2020 and built Tasks keeping that in mind. Now it is finally available for you’ll and me to use. I am extremely excited.
What’s new:
- Smart Lists, create complex queries extremely easily
- Folders, organize your projects into folders (nest them as much as you like
- Right click projects to add projects to projects and more
- Filters for projects - by tags, statuses, types, priorities and dates
- Support for PDFs (let me know via support links in the app if you’ll require more attachment types)
- Comments icon is now clickable to dive right in
- Widgets design improvement
- Hit enter to create tasks
- Fixed a bug where links would not work with the share extension
- Fixed a bug where the app would crash on tapping a project
Alongside these there are just so many more tiny improvements you’ll see across the app. This update has been a work of a few months.

This update is very dear to me, here is why:

The Halloween update is here with a few scary bug fixes which slipped in earlier:
- Clone a task by right clicking on it
- Drag and drop tasks outside the app to embed a link to it
- Right click a task, tag, status, priority or filter to copy a link referencing that within tasks, you can embed these anywhere on your device
- Drag and drop tasks across projects - when you do so as some details might not get transferred as you know projects are all unique. I inform you of what might not get transferred
- Improved reordering support
- A lot of scary spooky bugs were squished - most notable one being custom recurring reminders weren’t working correctly
- Comment icon persisting after deleting comments fix (thanks Mark)

- Export the board you are viewing or a column on the board to a PDF with some really cool custom options
- Custom notification settings so you can decide what updates the app’s badge count
- Improvements to the notifications preview, now all the details of the task are shown
- Clone an existing project by right clicking on it and selecting “Clone Project”
- Improved accessibility over voice control
- Fixed a bug with notifications where the badge count wouldn’t update at all
- Fixed a bug where reordering projects was not reliable
- When you create a tag while editing a task, it will assign that tag to the task
- Mac crash fix when attempting to open a new window by right clicking a project

- Added a new widget to see tasks across all projects which match the filter criteria
- Indicator for when a task has comments
- Right click on the app icon to dive right into your recently accessed projects or to create a task
- Fixed a widget crash (when must contain all tags is toggled)
- Reordering tags and priority bugs fixed, simple drag and drop to reorder them

Tasks is now finally available for macOS with a native experience, a fresh design for Big Sur with rich features such as widgets, multiple windows, keyboard shortcuts and a lot more. Thank you for your amazing support and patience.

- a more friendly interface for date and time pickers across the app
- importing images are easier, just copy and tap the + icon and we will pick the images from the clipboard
- tapping on a notification opens the task
